I'm starting to think up the story for the part 6. Like I state in the previous post, I always want to improve over the last part, so I am looking to improve the scare factor by working on a really cool kill scene. I'm going to be practicing my makeup application as well and hopefully the scene will have more intricate makeup and give more of a scare over part 5 (Due out soon).
My initial thought for a great kill scene is to use some type of sledge hammer, but I'm going to see if I can pull off a believable head splat first. One of the biggest mistakes of part 1 was writing a vehicle hit and ghost disappear scene without actually practicing the effect first. Had I know that the effect was going to be less than desirable; we would have re-written that scene. If there is one thing I hate, its cheesy effects. I've always thought, if people can't do them right then why do them at all? Well that philosophy has changed some since shooting a horror series. Without effects, at least a few, regardless if it's blood or ghosts, most of the time the finished product just isn't scary. Now I am sure there are a lot of people who will disagree this point and tell me "Great writing and timing can make movies scary without blood and effects", I agree but since I'm neither a great writer at this point nor experienced in horror timing, I'll have to create some scare factor with a little FX magic. If any of you have a great idea for a cool kill scene, I'd love to hear from you.
