Crowd Funding 1

Published in Tips by Lance Fischer | Comment (0)

We went to look at props at BJ Winslows in LA on Friday.  I must say this place was pretty cool. They had all kinds of horror stuff, even things I had not thought of. The trip was to look at what we might need for the sets and what it might cost to rent the items as opposed to building them.

My original estimations have more than trippled over the last month and I'm just trying to get an accurate estimation of our budget. I've looked at several different options for funding this project, One option was investors. I've decided to use this as a last option because I want to have full creative control. Plus I don't want to get into all the legal stuff with investors. The option I am looking at is crowd funding. Basically you offer your fans small perks like credits in your movie for money. I've put together a small list with prices of what we can offer a fan in exchange for a little cash. I'm still not sure about the pricing  and what we will offer so I haven't posted them yet.

Distribution ideas.

Published in Untagged  by Lance Fischer | Comment (0)
I looked at numerous distribution methods for the movie today. Having never produced a movie before, I hoped my research online led me in the right direction. I found a site called Indieflix.com that helps with DVD and digital distribution through various channels. One requirement is that your film has to be played as an “Official Selection” at a film festival before they will work with you.  We tried to enter several film festivals under their “web series” categories this past summer and got shot down each time. The whole process left a bad taste in my mouth, but if that is what it takes to even be considered for distribution I don’t have much choice. We do have one other option that I consider my last choice; self-distribution. I don’t think that this is a viable alternative for us because it will limit the number of possible investors and ultimately lessen the quality of the movie. If I can’t tell an investor how we will make them money, they won’t invest.  I also looked at Amazon.com and their digital downloads and DVD duplication system, but I don’t want to have to walk door to door and try to sell WeEvil unless I have to and I’m not sure about their reach in the digital download market. One other thing, I looked at the possibility of getting it on Netflix, but the only thing I’ve found is that to get on Netflix you have to go through a distributor like Indieflix.com/ a large mega distributor or winning a contest on IFC. Hopefully as this project progresses I will find the exact method we will be using. Until then I just have to keep moving along and hope that we choose the best method that will ultimately work out in our favor. I’ll keep you posted on our progress.

I'M back!

Published in Untagged  by Lance Fischer | Comment (0)

Well it's been a while and I am gearing up for production. Over the last several months I became a new dad and you know how hectic that can be. I am now ready to continue with the WeEvil project and thought I'd share some info with our fans, all three :)  Some of you might be ready for the next season, but I have something that I think you will like. Were gonna shoot a WeEvil Movie. Yep, I've talked with a few people and we feel that this is a great choice. This means that the movie will pick up where the series left off and once we produce the movie we will continue with the series. I am going to be posting the entire process along the way. Hopefully it might help someone else who's attempting to go this route. As I move this thing along I will try and keep you posted.
